Thursday just wasn't the day for Braxton County's offense. They came up short against Buffalo on Thursday, falling 14-0.
Braxton County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Kelly, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Philip Barbour never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against North Marion as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.
Kale Wolfe made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Philip Barbour is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise. Wolfe was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landyn Carpenter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Philip Barbour: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Keagan Wolfe was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Philip Barbour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Philip Barbour's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Braxton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.
