The Cannon Cougars can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They really took it to Charlotte Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-22 win on the road. With Cannon ahead 47-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Cannon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maya Mccorkle led the charge by scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Busby, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Charlotte Christian saw an underclassman step up: Piper Fair scored three points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Charlotte Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cannon racked up 13 assists.
Cannon's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Charlotte Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cannon will take on Providence Day at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence Day will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Charlotte Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte Latin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
