While the Thornton Trojans couldn't quite beat the Adams City Eagles on Monday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 31-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Thornton fell just short of Adams City by a score of 52-49. Thornton has not had much luck with Adams City recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
It was another big night for Fernanda Hernandez, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 11 rebounds, and 15 steals for Adams City. Hernandez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Adams City, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.
Thornton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Adams City will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Skyview at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Adams City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Skyview is ranked 67th).
