Basketball Game Preview: Wiley Panthers vs. Granada Bobcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wiley Panthers duke it out with the Granada Bobcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday... Wiley will be strutting in after a victory while Granada will be coming in after a loss.

Wiley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Deer Trail to the tune of 69-19 on Saturday. With the Panthers ahead 38-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Wiley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grant Mauch led the charge by going 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Mauch has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Milton Hernandez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Mauch wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Wiley was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Granada unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a 70-28 loss at the hands of McClave. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-10.

The win got Wiley back to even at 6-6. As for Granada, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
