The Franklin Flyers will head out on the road to take on Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Franklin, who comes in off a win.
Franklin is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Harvard: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Franklin blew Harvard out of the water with a 54-13 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-2.
Franklin found their leader in freshman Lyra Peterman, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. Another player making a difference was Saylor Bonham, who posted ten points and six rebounds.
Franklin was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harvard only posted three assists.
Meanwhile, Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Bertrand 53-26. Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.
Franklin will have to contain Bentley Stubbs as she made an impact in Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood]'s last game. She put up three points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Jurjens, who had five points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Franklin's win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood], their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Franklin has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 boards per game. However, it's not like Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Franklin ended up a good deal behind Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 39-25. Can Franklin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
