The Madison Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Trinity Leadership Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 666 points over their last nine matchups.
After soaring to a 31-point victory in their last game, Madison came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Life Oak Cliff by a score of 69-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Trinity Leadership came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Inspired Vision 78-15 on the road. Given Trinity Leadership's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 567th, while the EAGLES are ranked 1423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trinity Leadership's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tristan Brooks, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Maiden, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Madison's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-11. As for Trinity Leadership, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-15.
Madison came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 61-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
