Peninsula is a perfect 4-0 against Decatur since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Seahawks will head out to take on the Golden Gators at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Peninsula beats Decatur with eight runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went the Seahawks' way against Lakes on Tuesday as they made off with an 8-1 win. The Seahawks haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Pete Browand was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Daniel Sleeter looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Isaac Schultz-Tait was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Matthew Sleeter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Decatur never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Beamer with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Gators as they're now sitting on six straight.
The team relied heavily on Spencer Holloway, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eric Havili, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Decatur pushed their record up to 11-0-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Peninsula, their record is now 9-3-1.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Peninsula has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Decatur struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Peninsula took their win against Decatur when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
