The Lone Star Rangers are taking a road trip to take on the Wakeland Wolverines at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lone Star took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Turner get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

02/14/25 vs Horn | 2 |
The result came thanks to Lairyn Bell's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Wooten, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Madison Edgett was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Wooten wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lone Star kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Lone Star is 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakeland). Everything went their way against Creekview on Tuesday as Wakeland made off with an 18-1 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolverines, who have now won four matches in a row.
Jordan Mcnees spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wakeland got a massive performance out of Claire Schreiner, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Schreiner has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maggie Drake, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5.
Lone Star's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wakeland, their record is now 13-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Lone Star hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Wakeland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lone Star was able to grind out a solid victory over Wakeland when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 4-0. Will Lone Star repeat their success, or does Wakeland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
