The Cooperstown Hawkeyes suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Hamilton on the road and fell 82-47. While losing is never fun, Cooperstown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Hamilton is ranked 115th).
Cooperstown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charlie Lambert, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Lambert is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Bradley, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Cooperstown has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Hamilton, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Cooperstown will head out on the road to take on Poland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poland is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Hamilton, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Waterville at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
