Godley is a perfect 10-0 against Life Waxahachie since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will host the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Godley has four straight victories, Life Waxahachie has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Godley's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Alvarado as they made off with a 13-0 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Karlee Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Andersen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Sierra Beratto, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Life Waxahachie lost 15-8 to Hillsboro on Tuesday.
Nevaeh Esparza was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs. Raini Ketchum was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Godley's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Life Waxahachie, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
Life Waxahachie's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Godley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. It's a different story for Life Waxahachie, though, as they've only averaged .332. Will they be able to contain Godley's hitters?
Godley took their victory against Life Waxahachie in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
