The Greene County Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-33 loss to Aliceville. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Greene County in their matchups with Aliceville: they've now lost five in a row.
Greene County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Egan Daley, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Jhari Barnes was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though they lost, Greene County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aliceville only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Aliceville had a senior duo take command as Keanthony Wilder scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals and Tyquan Simon scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Simon grabbed two or more steals.
Greene County's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-16. As for Aliceville, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Greene County will head out on the road to square off against Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Aliceville, they will be playing at home against Greene County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
