The Adelanto Saints entered their tilt with the Canyon Springs Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Adelanto didn't even let Canyon Springs onto the board and left with a 25-0 win on Friday. Given Adelanto's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while Canyon Springs is ranked 719th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Adelanto got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mario Smith out in front who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Zaki Muhammad was another key contributor, rushing for 93 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Canyon Springs to a paltry 36 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Adelanto's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Marquise Pacheco and Shakir Collins who racked up four sacks between them.
Adelanto now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Canyon Springs, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Adelanto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Canyon Springs also has no future games currently scheduled.
