Trinity Leadership had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-13 to make it nine. They lost 21-0 to the UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the EAGLES from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
As for UME Preparatory Academy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
For UME Preparatory Academy's part, Mason McCoy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. McCoy has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other pitching news, Ethan Juarez looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because UME Preparatory Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaden Phelps, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Vincent Valdes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Trinity Leadership will challenge Covington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for UME Preparatory Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Dallas Lions Homeschool at 7:15 p.m. on April 2.
