Cedarcrest has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Snohomish Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cedarcrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Cedarcrest ended up a good deal behind Shorecrest and lost 60-42. Cedarcrest has not had much luck with Shorecrest recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Cedarcrest saw an underclassman step up: Laine Mckenzie dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Mckenzie is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kiki Anderson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Snohomish waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They managed a 61-57 victory over Archbishop Murphy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cedarcrest has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Snohomish, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Cedarcrest took a serious blow against Snohomish when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 44-16. Can Cedarcrest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
