The Grant Lancers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Birmingham Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Grant has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 423 points over their last six matchups.
Last Friday, Grant was able to grind out a solid victory over Kennedy, taking the game 65-53. Given Grant's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Kennedy is ranked 751st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
WILLIAM OVERTON and Omree Bentov were among the main playmakers for Grant as the former dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds and the latter scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. OVERTON hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of RONALD MERRILL, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even though Granada Hills Charter scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, Birmingham still came out on top. Birmingham came out on top in a nail-biter against Granada Hills Charter and snuck past 64-62.
Grant is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. As for Birmingham, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-12.
Grant couldn't quite finish off Birmingham when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 80-77. Can Grant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
