After flying high against the Arendell Parrott Academy Patriots on Wednesday, the Bear Grass Charter Bears came back down to earth. Bear Grass Charter fell just short of Northside - Pinetown by a score of 44-41. While losing is never fun, Bear Grass Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Northside - Pinetown is ranked 126th).
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Callee Perry, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Perry is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carolina Harrell, who scored 14 points.
Bear Grass Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for Northside - Pinetown, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bear Grass Charter's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bethel Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on January 9th. Northside - Pinetown will take on East Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
