Vacaville has won four straight games at home, while Vanden has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Vacaville got the win against River City by a conclusive 25-3. The Bulldogs have beaten the Raiders the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Raiders has come to flipping the script.
Makayla Morgan and Lola Vazquez did most of the damage at the plate: Morgan went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Vazquez went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave Vazquez a new career-high in doubles (two). Taylor Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Vacaville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Vanden made easy work of Pioneer on Wednesday and carried off an 8-1 win. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly seven runs.
Isabella Cueva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Vanden let Niayli Calvo and Daisy Pallares run wild. Calvo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Pallares fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were Pallares' first of the season. Another player making a difference was KJ Horton, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Vanden is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Vacaville, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Both Vacaville and Vanden just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Vanden struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vacaville took their victory against Vanden in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 11-5 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
