The Marvin Ridge Mavericks suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 68-43 loss at the hands of Palisades. Marvin Ridge found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 12 fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Marvin Ridge still got an impressive performance from Josh Clark, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Dunn, who scored seven points.
Palisades' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Jackson, who scored 16 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Jackson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Dillard, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Marvin Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Palisades, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.
Marvin Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Sun Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Sun Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Marvin Ridge is ranked 96th). As for Palisades, they will be playing at home against Ardrey Kell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ardrey Kell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Friday.
