Canyon Lake will head out on the road to face off against the Pieper Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Canyon Lake will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Canyon Lake beat Blanco 52-41. Given Canyon Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Blanco is ranked 1013th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Pieper beat New Braunfels 58-52 on Tuesday.
Pieper relied on the efforts of Ava Dixon, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds, and Arianna Davis, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Dixon has scored at least 25% of Pieper's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alison Naylor, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Canyon Lake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Pieper, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
Canyon Lake came up short against Pieper in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 39-30. Can Canyon Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
