Baseball Recap: Libertyville Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Libertyville waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Carmel Corsairs 8-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Libertyville got a great performance from Brady Buenik as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Buenik has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Quinn Schambow was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Carson Holmes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Libertyville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Carmel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Libertyville will head out to challenge Grayslake Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Carmel, they will host Joliet Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hilltoppers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Corsairs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
