Division II-A recap Sept. 26, 2012
Mt. Hope suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 37-6 loss to Johnston. The Huskies had been ranked 24th, but fell to 33 following the defeat.
The Panthers were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Division II-A. Johnston beat Mt. Hope 37-6 earlier in the week.
Jesse Sedoma and TJ Boyajian gave Warwick Veterans a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Sedoma threw for 31 yards and one touchdown, while Boyajian ran for 155 yards. Sedoma also contributed to the rushing game with 54 yards on the ground.
Mike Pagliarini was the best wideout in the league this week as Chariho fell to Westerly. Pagliarini racked up two receptions for 33 yards. Austin McQuaide helped Chariho's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Sedoma and Boyajian the Hurricanes have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Sedoma leads the league in passing with 136 yards, while Boyajian has rushed for 487 yards this season. The Chargers' Pagliarini leads the league in receiving yards with 58 on six catches.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Bulldogs and Woonsocket. Westerly enters the game ranked fifth in the state, while the Villa Novans ranks 18th.
Joe Acciardo's team extended the longest winning streak in Division II-A this week by beating the Huskies, 37-6. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
