Olean is 9-1 against Allegany-Limestone since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Huskies will square off against the Gators at 5:00 p.m. Olean is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
On Monday, Olean beat Dunkirk 12-7.
The team relied heavily on Anna Bates, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Mallory Carter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Allegany-Limestone made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dunkirk on Wednesday. The Gators blew past the Marauders 14-2. Considering the Gators have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kailey Truman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Molly John was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Kennedy Honeck was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.
Allegany-Limestone hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunkirk struck out six times.
Olean's record now sits at 10-4. As for Allegany-Limestone, their record is now 13-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Olean has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Allegany-Limestone struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Olean might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Allegany-Limestone in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
