St. Mary lost against the Sterling Classical Soldiers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Mary's was dealt a 60-21 loss at the hands of Sterling Classical. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Mary's has scored all season.
Tyler Zimmerhanzel and Gage Garsee certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Zimmerhanzel scored ten points, while Garsee scored six points.
Sterling Classical's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ely McClung, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max McDonald, who scored ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for St. Mary's and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Sterling Classical, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Memorial Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Sterling Classical, they will head out on the road to challenge Providence Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence Prep is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
