Even though the Scotland County Tigers have not done well against the Milan Wildcats recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Scotland County escaped with a win against Milan by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47. This was payback for Scotland County, who suffered a 51-42 loss the last time these two teams met.
Milan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahmet Niasse, who scored 19 points. The game was Niasse's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jared Gonzalez, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
The win got Scotland County back to even at 2-2. As for Milan, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-7 record last season and are now at 1-2.
Scotland County will look to defend their home court on Friday against Putnam County at 7:30 p.m. Milan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Shelby at 7:30 p.m. on January 26, 2024.
