It was fun while it lasted, but Lincoln Park Academy's undefeated season came to an end after 14 games on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Centennial Eagles. The Greyhounds were probably out for revenge after losing 54-45 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Several Greyhounds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayla Willette, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Olivia Titherington also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.
Centennial found their leader in sophomore Waniya Fortner, who had 13 points. Jada Parson was another key player, putting up 15 points.
Lincoln Park Academy's defeat ended a 23-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-1. As for Centennial, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Lincoln Park Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-36 win against Lake Wales on the 10th. Centennial has also already played their next game, a 73-45 victory against Vero Beach on the 15th.
