Softball Recap: Staunton River Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Staunton River won the last time they faced Magna Vista and things went their way on Friday too. The Golden Eagles never let the Warriors get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Not much got past Emma Alcorn, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Magna Vista off the board. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Alcorn.

On the hitting side, Kailynne Keister and Chloe Metric did most of the damage at the plate: Keister went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Metric went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was Metric's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Coles, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Staunton River's record now sits at 4-2. As for Magna Vista, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Staunton River will venture away from home to challenge Tunstall at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Magna Vista, they are taking a road trip to face off against Liberty at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
