St. Dominic has won five straight games at home, while Father Tolton has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Crusaders will welcome Father Tolton at 5:00 p.m. St. Dominic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Father Tolton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
St. Dominic took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Seckman, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Crusaders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Jaguars last Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Crusaders have posted since April 9th.
Meanwhile, Father Tolton never let their opponents score on Saturday. Everything went their way against Cardinal Ritter College Prep as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Father Tolton, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jack Mestres looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Shane Brown was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Will Breitweiser was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Father Tolton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
St. Dominic's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Father Tolton, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
St. Dominic beat Father Tolton 6-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will Father Tolton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
