The Penn Kingsmen will square off against the Harrison Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Penn comes in on eight and Harrison on three.
Penn is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Elkhart get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Kingsmen, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Signorino tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ava Zachary was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Logan Rumble, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Penn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhart only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Harrison made easy work of Noblesville on Thursday and carried off a 7-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Bradi Odom's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Hainje, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Hannah Voll was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Harrison's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Penn, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.
Harrison's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Penn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for Harrison, though, as they've only averaged .361. Will they be able to contain Penn's hitters?
Penn came out on top in a nail-biter against Harrison in their previous meeting back in June of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Kingsmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
