The Virginia City Muckers will take on the Wells Leopards at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wells will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Virginia City extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Muckers put the hurt on Lee Vining with a sharp 24-6 win.

Nanna Lopez was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Krum, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Virginia City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wells made easy work of Smith Valley on Friday and carried off a 19-2 victory. The Leopards are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight.
Grace Otto was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Stacia Hansen was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Mayte Casas was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wells pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.1 runs over those games. As for Virginia City, their win bumped their record up to 13-7-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Virginia City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .504. However, it's not like Wells struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Virginia City suffered a grim 18-7 defeat to Wells in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Muckers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
