Some time during the 2015 high school football season, Valdosta (Ga.) could become the first school in history to post 900 wins.

With 891 wins, according to the school's website, Valdosta ranks as the all-time winningest team in high school football history. Valdosta won nine games last season (9-2) and could thus hit the milestone some time in November.

A couple of other teams closing in on milestones include Hampton (Va.) and Muskegon (Mich.). According to reports in the Newport News Daily Press, Hampton concluded last year with 799 wins after a season-ending loss to Green Run. Muskegon, meanwhile, begins the season with 797 wins. Hampton ranks No. 9 overall while Muskegon is No. 10.

One problem with the milestone watch for all three teams - Valdosta, Hampton and Muskegon - is that their exact all-time totals are somewhat in doubt. Several different historians keep track of all-time wins, as does the National Federation of State High School Associations. Many schools also have websites dedicated to tracking the schools' all-time football wins. The various lists all come very close to having the same totals, but often vary by a win or two.

Valdosta is listed by historian Randy Wilson of Pennsylvania with 892 wins while Football Friday Night, a website that has continued the work originally done by historian Robert Fawcett, has Valdosta with 891. The Valdosta team website and the NFHS also have 891 wins, however other sources, including the Georgia Football Historians website, notes that Valdosta has several forfeit losses that are currently counted as wins.

Hampton, meanwhile, has 800 wins according to Football Friday Night. Wilson has the Crabbers with 799 while the NFHS has 774. Muskegon is listed by the NFHS with 798 while Football Friday Night has 797 and Wilson has 795.

The differences in totals is not uncommon when it comes to the research of all-time wins, as we mentioned last year in our rundown of the nation's all-time winningest programs.

Therefore, MaxPreps once again presents the various lists of all-time winningest programs and allows the reader the chance to decide which numbers are correct. Besides the totals presented by NFHS, Football Friday Night and Wilson, we have also included the work of Roger Saylor of Pennsylvania as well as information from state association websites, state record books, Cal-Hi Sports and other valid sources.

We've listed the numbers provided by Football Friday Night first and in bold as a baseline for putting the teams in some semblance of order. The only exception is for Montclair (N.J.) and Washington (Sioux Falls, S.D.), whose totals were much lower by Football Friday Night, but likely belonged in the top 50 based on other research.
