The Junction City Dragons will square off against the Lafayette County Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Junction City has five straight wins, Lafayette County has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Junction City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 59-6 victory over Murfreesboro. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 29 points or more this season.
Junction City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jermaine Kennedy out in front who rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one score. Kennedy also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Brennan Lee was another key player, rushing for 87 yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Junction City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 359 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August.

Junction City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. It was truly a group effort as Nemo Caldwell, Graden Hanry, and Dalton Baker picked up two apiece. Baker has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Lafayette County was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were dealt a 30-2 loss at the hands of Mineral Springs. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Lafayette County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Junction City, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Junction City has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 258.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lafayette County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 275.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Junction City was able to grind out a solid win over Lafayette County when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 35-28. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
