Edwards County has won six straight games at home, while Hamilton County has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Lions will welcome the Foxes at 4:30 p.m. Edwards County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Edwards County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Gibson Southern as they made off with a 7-0 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Allison Groff was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Groff was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Holly Hensley was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Madi Murphy, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Hamilton County came up short against Trigg County on Saturday, falling 13-4.
Kelsie Ashcraft and Colebie Miller stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ashcraft went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Miller went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Hamilton County's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Edwards County, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
Hamilton County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Edwards County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hamilton County, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Edwards County keep running through batters, or will the Foxes buck the trend?
Edwards County couldn't quite finish off Hamilton County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
