Basketball Recap: Dwyer Extends Winning Streak to Four

Dwyer came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Norland Vikings, sneaking past 62-59. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly three points.

Dwyer was led to victory by JORDAN QUINCE and TAMARI REED. QUINCE went 6 for 13 en route to 18 points in addition to eight steals and six boards, while REED went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points. QUINCE's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was AHMAD LAWRENCE, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Dwyer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Norland still got an impressive performance from Anthony Walcott, who went 6 of 10 en route to 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Walcott a new career-high in steals. Lorenzo Major was another key player, putting up 12 points and five assists.

Dwyer has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Norland, they moved to 12-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Dwyer Panthers face off against the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dwyer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season. As for Norland, they will face off against Reagan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Reagan also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.7 points per game.
