Basketball Recap: Socastee Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Socastee won the last time they faced Conway, and Bri Smith did her part to make sure it happened again. The Socastee Braves had just enough and edged the Conway Tigers out 35-32 thanks in part to Smith, who posted 18 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Socastee's points.

Another player making a difference was Paige Bailey, who put up two points and nine boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rebecca Hemingway, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Ahchiya Hill was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Socastee and bumps their season record up to 13-11. As for Conway, their record now sits at 2-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Socastee will host St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Socastee is facing St. James at the right time seeing as St. James is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Conway, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carolina Forest's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Conway's offense will have their work cut out for them.
