Baseball Recap: Camp Point Central Victorious

Camp Point Central took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Liberty, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Eagles on Wednesday. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 9-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Collin Likes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Garrett Neisen was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Cooley, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Camp Point Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Camp Point Central will head out to take on Macomb at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty, they will take on Seymour at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
