The Von Steuben Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Brooks Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Von Steuben is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Von Steuben will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Agricultural Science on Monday. The Panthers never let the Cyclones get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cyclones: they've now won three in a row.
Wade Miley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christian Kobayashi, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Von Steuben is 4-1 when Kobayashi posts two or more runs, but 10-11-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of George Allen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Von Steuben always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Simeon hit Brooks with a nine-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 16-2 to the Wolverines. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brooks saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin White, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Brooks' defeat dropped their record down to 9-20. As for Von Steuben, their record now sits at 14-12-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Von Steuben has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brooks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Von Steuben took their win against Brooks in their previous matchup last Saturday by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
