Zion Christian Academy has gone a perfect 10-0 against Clarksville Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Centurions at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Zion Christian Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. Everything went their way against Riverside Christian Academy as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with Riverside Christian Academy recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Marleigh McWilliams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, Leighla Rains was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Charlee Cheek, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Zion Christian Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Clarksville Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Christian Community with a sharp 12-2 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Centurions.
Like Zion Christian Academy, Clarksville Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Avah Sams. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Clarksville Christian let Jada James and Charlese Teasley run wild. James went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Teasley went 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. Farrah Waller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Clarksville Christian's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Zion Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Zion Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456.
