The Sanford Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Marshwood Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sanford 2.8, Marshwood 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Sanford proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Kennebunk 4-3.
Brady Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Do, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Hebert, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Marshwood waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They came out on top against the Scots by a score of 7-4.
Like Sanford, Marshwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Ronan Garrett. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Garrett was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and one run.
Garrett wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Hussey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Silas Reimels was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Sanford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marshwood, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sanford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marshwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
