The Barrow Whalers had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Tikigaq 67-33 on the road. The victory was just what Barrow needed coming off of a 91-32 loss in their prior game.
Barrow found their leader in underclassman Alex Fruen, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaziah Tivao, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Barrow's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tikigaq, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 0-3.
Barrow won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Valley View at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th. Valley View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.6 points per game. Tikigaq won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Houston at 11:00 a.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alaska (Houston is ranked 18th, while Tikigaq is ranked 23rd).
