Basketball Game Preview: Speedway Sparkplugs vs. Triton Central Tigers

Speedway hasn't had much luck against Triton Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Speedway Sparkplugs will be home for the holidays to greet the Triton Central Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Speedway is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Herron: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Speedway blew Herron out of the water with a 58-24 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-15.

Speedway's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayli Clampitt, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Clampitt a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylie Walton, who posted seven points along with six boards and four steals.

Speedway was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herron only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, Triton Central waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Raiders, posting a 72-14 win. That looming 72-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Speedway's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Triton Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.
