The Robstown Cottonpickers managed to keep up with the Ingleside Mustangs until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Robstown was the victim of a tough 58-35 loss at the hands of Ingleside. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Robstown in their matchups with Ingleside: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Robstown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derek Silva. Despite the final result, he threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Timothy Sanchez was another key contributor, picking up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Ingleside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Jakobsohn, who threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Jakobsohn is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Ambrose, who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry.
Robstown's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Ingleside, Sinton, and Bandera. As for Ingleside, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Coincidentally, Robstown and Ingleside will both be playing Orange Grove the next time they take the field. Ingleside will host Orange Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Robstown will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
