The Corunna Cavaliers's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Flat Rock Rams at 1:00 p.m. on November 18th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Corunna had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-18 win over Lutheran North at home. Given Corunna's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Lutheran North is ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jaden Edington had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 186 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Edington has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Bower, who threw for 103 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Flat Rock entered their tilt with Southeastern with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Flat Rock blew past Southeastern, posting a 56-20 win on the road. That's two games straight that Flat Rock has won by exactly 36 points.
Corunna pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-1 Goodrich and 9-1 Notre Dame Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56% over those games). As for Flat Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
