Belleview Christian is on a 19-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Peyton is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Belleview Christian Bruins will take on the Peyton Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Belleview Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Peyton likes a good challenge.
Even though Pikes Peak Christian scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Belleview Christian still came out on top. Belleview Christian took their match against Pikes Peak Christian 67-56.
Belleview Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Ewing, who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals. Ewing is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jagga Sandhu, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Peyton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Dolores Huerta Prep 79-47 at home. Given Peyton's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Dolores Huerta Prep is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peyton had a senior duo take command as Brian Keairnes scored 13 points along with eight assists and seven steals and Ayden Breese scored 18 points along with six assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keairnes has scored all season. Bryce Love was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three blocks and two steals.
Belleview Christian's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Peyton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Belleview Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Peyton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Belleview Christian took their win against Peyton when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 66-41. Does Belleview Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Peyton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
