It was a good run, but the Mansfield Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Skyline 58-26. While losing is never fun, Mansfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Skyline is ranked 145th).
Skyline's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tamya Whitemon, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Whitemon scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Brown, who scored nine points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Skyline, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Mansfield will head out on the road to face off against Mansfield Legacy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyline will be home for the holidays to greet Waxahachie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Waxahachie is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
