The Conestoga Christian Cougars suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Linville Hill on the road and fell 61-33. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Conestoga Christian in their matchups with Linville Hill: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Conestoga Christian saw an underclassman step up: Josh Boutaugh scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Boutaugh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bransen Weaver, who scored nine points.
Stephen Smucker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Linville Hill, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Smucker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Sejuste, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Conestoga Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Linville Hill, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.
Conestoga Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clearfield Alliance Christian on January 26th. As for Linville Hill, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on New Covenant Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. New Covenant Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while Linville Hill is ranked 146th).
