The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts and the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Mica Mountain is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Last Wednesday, Mica Mountain strolled past Canyon del Oro with points to spare, taking the game 56-37.
Mica Mountain relied on the efforts of Kayla Mathie, who scored 16 points along with three steals, and Isabella Webb, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Webb has scored at least 25% of Mica Mountain's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Boxley, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge faced Alchesay in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Blue Ridge secured a 48-42 W over Alchesay last Tuesday. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but Blue Ridge was the better team in the second half.
Mica Mountain's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Blue Ridge, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-2.
Mica Mountain beat Blue Ridge 59-48 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Does Mica Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Blue Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
