On Tuesday, the Omaha Westside Warriors faced the Millard North Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Omaha Westside ended up on the wrong side of a tough 76-56 walloping at the hands of Millard North. Omaha Westside's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Omaha Westside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caleb Benning, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benning has scored all season. Kevin Stubblefield was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Millard North was led to victory by Derek Rollins and Elijah Gaeth. Rollins dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Gaeth scored 29 points along with two steals. Gaeth hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Neal Mosser, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Omaha Westside's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Millard North, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Omaha Westside will take on Millard West at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Millard West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Omaha Westside is ranked 11th). As for Millard North, they will be playing at home against Papillion-LaVista South at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Papillion-LaVista South is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
