Vernon Hills had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Carmel on Saturday. The Cougars blew past the Corsairs 9-3. The Cougars not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 12-5).

Tyler Perritt was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten matches. Devin Ratajczyk was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Vernon Hills' victory bumped their record up to 11-21-1. As for Carmel, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-23.

Coming up, Vernon Hills will venture away from home to face off against Crystal Lake South at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carmel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
