Baseball Recap: Wakefield Has No Trouble Against Sanderson

Wakefield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sanderson Spartans a 10-0 shutout. The game marked the Wolverines' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Thomas Piscorik was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Evan Genao, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Wakefield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sanderson struck out 11 times.

Wakefield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Sanderson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Wakefield will welcome Athens Drive at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sanderson, they will head out to take on Rolesville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
