The Hinkley Thunderbirds will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Far Northeast W Warriors at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 32 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Hinkley and three for the Warriors.
Hinkley struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Friday (the Ravens were 28% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hinkley was outmatched by the Ravens at home and fell 51-5. Hinkley has not had much luck with the Ravens recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jimena Rivera, who scored two points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that she grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Taufa, who scored no points along with six blocks and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Far Northeast W was beaten by the Angels 94-24 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Far Northeast W can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Angels are ranked 56th).
Hinkley dropped their record down to 0-15 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Far Northeast W, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Hinkley might still be hurting after the 59-39 defeat they got from the Warriors in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Hinkley have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
